当一份工作就能养活一家人的时候,开源达到了顶峰。现在就业市场效率太高了,很少有人能在朝九晚五的工作之余,还能负担得起免费向世界贡献软件。结果是:

微软认为 200 美元的客户终身价值已经不够了。苹果也在推出全系统范围的广告。用户在被挟持的情况下无法用钱包投票。没有替代方案,大投资者不会为能蚕食他们自己持股的微软或苹果杀手提供资金。
我们都经历过公司将利润置于一切之上的情况。我们希望有开源替代方案,但谁能负担得起构建它们呢?尤其是在现在公司使用人工智能来“重新实现”开源软件,且不受许可限制的情况下。

I also got a lot of explanations on why VC money won't be invested into useful products.<p>Open Source peaked when one job fed a family. Now the job market's so efficient that few can afford gifting free software to the world after their dayjob. The result:<p>increasingly shitty commercial software<p>Microsoft decided $200 customer lifetime value just isn't enough anymore. Apple, too, is introducing OS-wide ads. Users can't vote with their wallets in a hostage situation. There's no alternatives, big investors won't finance a Microsoft- or Apple-killer that cannibalizes their own holdings.<p>We've all experienced companies prioritizing profits above all else. We hope for Open Source alternatives, but who can afford to build them? Especially now that companies use AI to "re-implement" OSS without licensing restrictions.<p>Back to shareware?<p>Start software development co-ops (like Costco, but for apps) ?
