唐纳德·特朗普和左翼人士在一个问题上都大错特错：如果人民没有配备枪支，任何政府都无法被其人民推翻。
俄罗斯和伊朗那些不得人心的独裁政权之所以能够轻易地维持权力，是因为他们的人民没有武装。只要独裁政权拥有枪支，它只需要不到百分之一的人口支持就能维持统治，而人民却没有。
唯一没有武装的人民推翻政府的案例，都是政府允许这种情况发生，没有反抗。
这就是为什么在美国，拥枪权对自由和民主至关重要——无论是左翼还是右翼的领导人都害怕人民的反抗能力。拥枪权是美国人能够保持自由的唯一原因。

Donald Trump and the left are both completely wrong on one point: no government can be overthrown by its own people if they are not armed with guns.<p>Deeply unpopular dictatorships in Russia and Iran are able to easily retain power as their people are unarmed. Dictatorships need less than one percent of the population to support them as long as that dictatorship has guns, but the people do not.<p>The only governments that unarmed people have overthrown have been in cases where that government allows it by not fighting back.<p>This is why gun rights are so important to freedom and democracy in America – both left wing and right wing leaders are afraid of the people’s ability to fight back. Gun rights are the sole reason Americans have stayed free as long as we have.
