So this morning I was working on an integration of HeyGen's interactive avatars for a client demo and had something mixed up which caused an intermittent problem. (It turned out it was a pretty dumb mistake with the code actually). But I was tired and kind of panicking, so I thought I should try getting a paid plan to see if that had something to do with it.
It defaults to annual billing. I'm not used to that, I always assume it's monthly. So I was looking at $300 on the screen but my hand was already programmed to complete the checkout and I could not stop it.
I emailed their support, they replied pretty quickly saying:
"If you’d prefer, I can switch your subscription to a monthly plan so you can keep using the platform and cancel your plan when you want. Just let me know!
Warmly,"
I asked some follow ups trying to figure out if that meant I would get most of the money back and explaining that I was in kind of a desperate financial situation. The problem is, at this point I don't think they will do it, but if I do a chargeback with PayPal or dispute, probably it will take forever and decent chance I won't get it anyway. But also that puts my account with HeyGen at risk, and I am supposed to be helping a client with an integration.
They answered promptly at first, but now it's been awhile, so I don't think they are going to answer. Do you think PayPal will give me the money back? I feel like I was kind of tricked into paying the annual fee. But regardless I asked them for help within an hour or two.
Is this normal business now?
I have money trickling in from Upwork, but that $270 or whatever is a complete killer at this point.
