Ask HN：纯数学学位能做什么？

我明年（在欧洲）将完成数学学位。<p>问题是：我毕业时将满 37 岁。我后来改变了职业。<p>我对职业发展方向有点迷茫。我考虑过攻读量化金融或人工智能研究的硕士学位，但我听说要想在大多数自营交易公司获得面试机会，你得是个年轻的天才，而对于人工智能，我不知道这条路对像我这样的普通人来说，目前有多大可行性。<p>我的感觉是，在获得学位后，我需要参加一些研究生项目，才能掌握编程和其他“有用”的技能，说实话，我有点期待。<p>如果你在某个使用数学或与数学相关的技能的行业工作，我很想知道，如果我是你，你会怎么做，任何建议都将非常宝贵。<p>谢谢！

I'm going to finish a degree in mathematics next year (in Europe).<p>The catch: I'll be 37 when I finish. I had a change of careers later in life.<p>I'm a bit lost on what to pursue professionally. I've looked into getting a Master's in quant/finance or AI research but I've read you need to be a young genius in order to get an interview in most of the prop shops, and for AI I don't know how feasible that path is right now for a regular guy like me.<p>I get the impression that I need some graduate program after my degree in order to pick up programming and other "useful" skills, and to be honest, I'm kinda looking forward to it.<p>If you are in some sort of industry that uses math or math-adjacent skills I'd love to know what would you do in my situation, any advice will be golden.<p>Thank you!
